Motorhome Routes

Wild camping is prohibited in Croatia and it is actively enforced. In the summer months inspectors patrol the coast and fines run up to 660 euros. Standing outside official campsites or designated camper stops is not allowed.

Croatia uses distance-based tolling, gradually moving to electronic registration. Motorhomes above 3.5 tonnes fall into a higher toll category — usually III or IV depending on axles and height — and pay accordingly.

The sharpest point for a larger motorhome: above 3.5 tonnes the speed limit on Croatian motorways is 80 km/h instead of 130. Allow for substantially more driving time than your route planner suggests.

Finally, bear in mind that the islands are only reachable by ferry. For Brač, Hvar, Korčula and Mljet you pay per metre of vehicle length, so a 7.5 metre motorhome costs a multiple of a car. Book ahead in high season.
