Why this stop
Today is Trollstigen day, on one of the most famous roads in the world. Don't be fooled by the short distance: it's an intense but unforgettable drive.
The route
Today the road itself is the destination: the Rv63 over Trollstigen, the Eidsdal–Linge ferry (just join the queue) and the Ørnevegen hairpins down into Geiranger.
Motorhome advice
Set off as early as you can to stay ahead of the coaches. Take it steady, use a low gear so the engine does the braking, and take the bends wide. Note: motorhomes longer than 13.1 metres aren't allowed on this road.
Where to stay
Look around Geiranger for a spot with a view of the fjord, within walking distance of the village. In high season, booking is essential: weeks or even months ahead.
Plan B for bad weather
If Trollstigen is closed, or you'd rather not tackle it, the detour via the E136 and road 63 through Eidsdal is longer but less demanding.
