Ferry or drive on? Do the maths

    Departure port & check-in

Check-in opens at 16:00, boarding starts around 17:00 and check-in closes 90 min before departure. P&O advises being there at least 90 min before departure with a large vehicle such as a motorhome or caravan. When booking, give the total length, width and height including bike rack, roof box, aerial, air-conditioning unit and tow bar - overstated dimensions cost money, understated ones can get you refused.

    Facilities at the terminal

    • Fresh water

No water filling point in the port area; the nearest service point is Camping de Meeuw in Brielle (±20 km).

    • Chemical toilet

No disposal at the terminal; there is disposal in Brielle.

    • Showers

The terminal has only toilets and a waiting area; showers are in your cabin on board.

      No overnight stays

Spectacular views over the port and the ferry pier, but explicitly daytime parking: motorhome owners report that the police come by regularly and move people on. Only five spaces, and nothing but a waste container.

    Practical tip

Never put 'Rotterdam haven' alone into your sat nav - it lands you in the wrong part of the industrial area. Use the exact address Luxemburgweg 2 or port number 5805 and follow the Europoort and P&O Ferries signs from the A15/N15. There are no electrical hook-ups on the vehicle deck. Turn off the gas, close windows and roof hatches and disable the alarm before you leave the deck. A cabin is included in the price as standard (an overnight ferry of ±12 hrs). A motorhome or caravan costs around 30-50% more than a car; return fares run from ±€280 to ±€470 depending on size, cabin and season.

    Arrival & first stop

    First motorhome stop after arrival

    • Burton Constable Holiday Park, near Sproatley (East Yorkshire)

      Campsite
      Distance to terminal
      ±15 km
      Price per night
      Not known

      Overnight: check in advance

Large holiday park north-east of Hull, suitable for motorhomes and practical as a first stop after the morning arrival.

    Fuel, gas & LPG

LPG availability in Yorkshire is limited; a British bayonet adapter is required.

    Watch out on arrival

The boat berths in the morning, so you drive into the Hull rush hour on the A63. Drive on the left. The Humber Bridge (A15 southbound) is tolled. Hull has no Clean Air Zone charging motorhomes, but routes via Leeds/Bradford and London do - check your route.

    Practical tip

From King George Dock, Hedon Road takes you straight onto the A63 towards the M62 (west, for Leeds and Manchester) or the A1079 (north, for York).

    Border, documents & rules

A UK ETA is required for Dutch nationals (£20, two years). A passport is mandatory. EES on departure from Schengen. Border control takes place in Europoort at check-in.

    Motorhome tips

Route simply active for passengers in 2026 (Pride of Hull/Pride of Rotterdam) — rumours about it stopping are not true, only Hull–Zeebrugge disappeared (2021); gas max 47 kg, declare when booking
