    Fuel, gas & LPG

GPL is harder to find on Sardinia than on the mainland but is available in the larger towns; an Italian Dish adapter is needed.

    Watch out on arrival

Sardinia has many narrow coastal roads and beach approaches with height restrictions and barriers on the car parks - check in advance whether your motorhome will get through. Wild camping on the beach is actively fined in summer. In July and August, car parks at the well-known beaches are often accessible only for a fee and with a length limit.

    Practical tip

From Isola Bianca you are straight onto the SS131 DCN towards Nuoro and Cagliari, or the SS125 towards the Costa Smeralda and the south-east coast.

    Border, documents & rules

A domestic Italian route: no border control and no customs, but there is a compulsory identity check with original documents for every passenger, children included.

    Motorhome tips

The early-booking discount (Jan-Mar) can save 30-40% for the summer; alternatives: Genoa–Olbia/Porto Torres (Moby/GNV) and Piombino–Olbia
